About

(c) Rod Searcey

Welcome!

I am currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Center for International Security and Cooperation (CISAC) at Stanford University and the Stanford Existential Risk Initiative (SERI). I am also an Associate Researcher at the Peace Research Institute Frankfurt (PRIF)

My research focuses on the intersection of emerging technologies, especially artificial intelligence and autonomy, with international security and governance. To explore this nexus, I draw on International Relations and Science and Technology Studies. This interdisciplinary approach allows me to show how understandings and meanings about technologies come about, how they shape and are shaped by international politics, and what options for governance and regulation subsequently become possible.

I received my PhD in August 2024 from the University of Frankfurt. I also hold an MA in International Studies from the University of Frankfurt and a BA in Politics & Economics from the University of Muenster.
